New BD-P2500 Blu-Ray player from Samsung
Hot off the press, Digital Burn is proud to bring you the latest news on the Samsung BD-P2500 Blu-ray Player. It comes packing the latest features and looks smooth with a piano black finish highlighted with chrome accents and touch pad controls. There is quite a lot to get through so we’ll get cracking.
The most interesting feature of this device is the Hollywood Quality Video (HQV) processing. HQV is designed by Silicon Optix as a standard that provides super performance in de-interlacing, noise reduction, and scaling with both standard-definition and high-definition signals. It can up-scale your DVDs to great effect. Coupled with this, the Samsung BD-P2500 Blu-ray Player offers 7.1-Channel analog audio outputs, which means that this Blu-Ray player will offer a great a audio-visual experience.
The player will come compatible with all the current BD Profile requirements, therefore offering BD Live™ and Bonus View. Furthermore, we can expect a built in Ethernet connection and 1GB of flash memory for getting the latest content downloaded. We realize 1GB won’t get you very far, but there is a USB port for memory expansion.
Naturally, the Samsung BD-P2500 Blu-ray Player supports full HD 1080p playback, as well as a 24fps film mode. The player will also support xvYCC Deep Color. Deep Color increases the available bit depth for each color component, while xvYCC expands the overall color gamut. In short, this should make the displays’ color more realistic.
Out of the box, the player will output – and wait for it - Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and dts as an uncompressed PCM signal, as a bitstream, or via the 7.1 analog outputs for cinematic sound that is comparable with the latest movie theatres. Phew. If that isn’t enough, and it really should be, this autumn you will be able to decode dts-HD HR after a small, over-the-air, firmware update.
Available in October for a very reasonable US$499.99, we look forward to getting our hands on one!
