New SSD range offered by Samsung
As part of our ongoing quest to bring you the latest and greatest SSD revelations, we are proud to announce that electronics giant Samsung has stepped to offer cheaper and higher performance SSDs, just like OCZ and co.
Primarily aimed at the subnotebook market such as the Eee PC, their affordable 8GB, 16GB and 32GB SSD models will be as small as 1.75in. All of the models will offer 90MBps read speed, while the write speeds are 25MBps, 45MBps and 70MBps, respectively. There is no official word on pricing yet, but given the fact that these little critters will be making their way into the budget mini-notebook market, ‘cheap’ suggests really cheap. We should expect to see mass production in September in order for Samsung to keep up with the predicted 57% increase annually of SSD demand.
