Hands-on with Sony Ericsson’s 3G TM506 cell phone for T-Mobile USA
Last night at a private event in NYC, we got to spend some quality time with Sony Ericsson’s latest 3G device, the TM506 that is headed to T-Mobile USA. The TM506 marks a return to T-Mobile for Sony Ericsson, something the company is very excited about. The TM506 is also the first HSDPA 3G capable handset for T-Mobile USA and fully supports T-Mobile’s new 1700MHz 3G network as well as the the 2100MHz 3G networks that exist in Europe and other parts of the world.
This global clamshell-styled phone features on-board A-GPS with TeleNav Navigator support, a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth A2DP stereo, a Memory Stick Micro (M2) expansion slot, and an RSS reader. As you would have to figure, it also supports TMo’s MyFaves application.
The TM506 clamshell is very light in hand (100g/3.5oz) and feels solid and sturdy in construction. We love the fact that both Sony Ericsson and T-Mobile decided to jazz this phone up with some slight flashes of color and feel that this will be a winner for both parties - though we have to admit that perhaps a white with pink scheme might have added more appeal for women.
The Sony Ericsson TM506 for T-Mobile will be available in early September and we’re told it should be under $99 with a 2-year service agreement.
Stay tuned for a full review of the TM506 on our parent site MobileBurn soon but in the mean time, enjoy our attached photo gallery and MobileBurn’s video after the jump.
