Archos PMP

Over in Europe, Archos are causing quite a stir. The French PMP specialists really do have a knack of producing good looking, copy-cat free products that always impress; enter the ‘Archos 5′ and ‘Archos 7‘ media players.

Each will offer a touch-screen 800 x 480 resolution in a 4.8in and 7in LCD display, respectively. Similarly, the ‘Archos 5′ packs in something between a 60-250GB HDD, while the ‘Archos 7′ can boast a 160-320GB HDD. Both models offer WiFi with a fully equipped web-browser along with email. What’s more, if you pick your model carefully, you’ll find it busting out 3G connectivity. Wack in a 3G SIM card from your favourite provider and you’re off. If this doesn’t have your mouth watering already, both of the aforementioned models offer 720p high definition playback coupled with HDMI outputs. Basically, if you’re near a HD TV and you have your Archos with you, you can watch it on the big screen!

So with all this, these gems don’t come cheap. But you wouldn’t really expect them to. Available in September, the ‘Archos 5′ will hit you for £279.99 (60GB) £319.99 (120GB) and £359.99 (250GB) while the ‘Archos 7’, available in October, takes no prisoners, starting at 360 (160GB) and a whole £440 (320GB). To convert to dollars, simply double the figures you see before you right here. The 3G connected Archos is still under wraps at the moment.

Providing these prices do not put too many off, the Archos looks to be like a huge success.
