Today Hewlett Packard announced three new ultra portable laptops to its stable.  The notebook computers are designed for mobile professionals that need a lightweight solution with heavy duty specifications.

First up is the EliteBook 2530p that features an anodized aluminum exterior to protect it from the outside world.  The casing boasts military-type testing with extremes such as dust, humidity, and temperature.  The 3.2 pound  2530 features a 12.1-inch widescreen display, 1.8-inch or 2.5-inch HD, and an on-board optical drive.  The 2530p will retail for US$1499 and is expected to be available for purchase in early September.

Next up is the 2730p tablet-styled notebook that allows users to quickly rotate the screen for instant pen-based input.  The new tablet weighs a bit more than the conventional laptops at 3.7 pounds.  Some newly added features include an integrated touchpad, tablet buttons, and jog dial.  Users may want to opt for the optional battery that serves up to 12 hours of usage.  The 2730p will retail for US$1670 and is expected to be available for purchase in early September just like the 2530p.

Lastly, HP also debuted an affordable notebook solution for the budget conscious with the Compaq 2230s.  The new 2230s boasts a 12-inch widescreen display screen as well as the latest in mobile connectivity including WiFi and Bluetooth.  The HP Compaq 2230s is a bit heavier than the above EliteBooks, coming in a tad over 4 pounds and is available now for US$999.
