Hands-on with the LG KS360 cell phone
A new handset has landed on our doorsteps and this time it is LG’s KS360 mid-level device. The slider-styled KS360 device feels quite light, but is solidly constructed and is pretty average in size. The looks of this handheld seems to divide people - we here at Digitalburn think it looks okay, but there are others hailing it as one of the ugliest devices ever.
The tri-band GSM KS360 is a device that sports a slide-out QWERTY keyboard for simple text input, while its front face offers the typical send/end keys, menu buttons, and a few directional keys. It is definitely a phone designed with the younger crowd in mind from its youthful aesthetics to its messaging focus. It should be noted that the large 2.4″ QVGA display appears to be similar to LG’s Secret and KC550 and features touchscreen abilities, although these are used for dialing purposes only.
The slide-out keyboard is okay in function but can be difficult to see in harsh lighting. The user interface for this youth-designed handset isn’t designed as well as we’d have liked, with some softkeys not matching up correctly.
One of the cool features on this Orange branded handset is a little collection of animated people on the standby screen, that take on the names of individuals that contact you. Just scroll to the person you want and the phone displays the number of outstanding messages and calls that you have from that contact - which is quite quirky and fun.
Otherwise Bluetooth A2DP (stereo) is present, as is a 2-megapixel camera, and a handful of games.
The LG KS360 comes in a rainbow of colors including white/pink, black/red, and black/silver. The handset is available now.
