NEC EA261WM monitor to save the world one pixel at a time
We recently announced that Fujitsu-Siemens had broken the laws of physics have produced a monitor that uses ‘zero watts’ while in standby, and is therefore better friends with the environment. Although the gains per monitor are small, if every monitor in the world used this technology, the difference would be worthwhile.
Not to be shown up, NEC is also getting in on a bit of the ‘green’ action, and has announced its new flagship monitor as part of their new MultiSync EA series: Enter the ‘MultiSync EA261WM’.
Unlike Fujitsu-Siemens, NEC will save the world by simply reducing the impact of the manufacturing process and also reducing the power necessary while the monitor is actually in use (as opposed to when it is not). This is primarily achieved through the use of an ‘EcoMode’. The new monitor is so energy efficient it has achieved EPEAT Certification left right and centre.
Of course, let us not forget the technical specifications.
Offering up a 5ms response time and a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,200, the EA261WM will offer 400cd/m2 of brightness and 170 degree wide angle viewing. The device also comes with built in speakers, USB hub and DVI-D with HDCP connectivity.
Available now for $679.99, you have your excuse to save the world one pixel at a time.
