A good pair of earphones is paramount to any personal audio experience, and something we take very seriously here at DigitalBurn. However, the cost of such a luxury good should not be taken lightly, with Grado headphones capable of pushing you nearly £900 or well over $1500. If you are happy to settle for the in-ear alternatives, we may have a way of saving you money and giving you more bang-for-your-buck.

Technology from Comply is dubbed Foam, or Comply Foam to be precise. The general principle of the buds is that they replace the standard tips you get with most in-ear headphones, or in the case of many, offer some where there were none at all (cough - Apple).

The foam is 30x softer than standard tips, and is heat activated to mould to your ear and decrease irritation to make those long sessions enjoyable. The main benefit afforded by the technology is that they keep out external noise and therefore emphasize your own audio experience.

This technology is not brand new, but Comply are now expanding their market and portfolio in ways previously unseen by the company. You may recall our post on Logitech’s acquisition of Ultimate Ears from yesterday, well Comply Foam will even work with those. For a full brand list of compatibility, visit their website here. With prices starting as low as $25, this is certainly a cheaper option and for our UK viewers, even you can get a hold of the Foam from HiFiHeadPhones starting at £15.
