Upcoming EX310 notebook from MSI
Following in the wake of Lenovo’s 17-inch ThinkPad W700 notebook and Dell’s new Latitude E series laptops, MSI have announced their portable EX310. Measuring in much smaller than the aforementioned models, the EX310 is looking for some of the market share currently wrapped up by Dell’s XPS M1330 and Sony’s SZ series. The most interesting thing about this notebook from MSI’s perspective is the fact that it is not based on the MSI Wind’s basic chassis. This is something of a remarkable feat for the company, since usually, once they find something they like, they stick with it through thick and thin. The specifications for the EX310 are listed below:
- 13.3in 1,280 x 800 screen
- AMD Turion X2 dual-core processor
- Up to 4GB RAM
- AMD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 graphics
- 160GB, 250GB or 320GB hard drive
- Draft-N wireless, Bluetooth
- Optional Blu-ray drive
Similar to the SZ and M1330, the EX310 also comes with a 2.0 megapixel webcam, as well as a fingerprint reader for that added peace of mind. Nothing special in the operating department either, with Vista Home Premium coming as standard. No word on pricing or availability yet, but we should expect to see this notebook in red or blue hitting Taiwan pretty soon.
