Preview of LG’s 5 megapixel KC550 ‘Orsay’ camera phone
The LG KC550 ‘Orsay’ mobile phone has just arrived for a full review and we thought we would give you a sneak preview of this new slim slider.
Targeted for both the budget conscious consumer and photo enthusiast, the KC550 is stocked with lots of goodies including a 5 megapixel shooter. The handset is well equipped for a budget device including the same screen as the LG Secret (minus the touchscreen capabilities) and the same camera, by the look of things, that uses a Schneider-Kreuznach lens kit as well as offering both image stabilization and auto-focus.
The device feels ‘normal’ in terms of weight, not particularly heavy, nor
particularly light. It feels sturdy and the slider action feels robust too. The KC550 looks classy, despite not having the flashy carbon fiber that was on the Secret. In fact, it probably looks more stylish because it’s not a mish-mash of random materials - the design is very simple and cohesive.
However, customization is limited in some places. For example, users cannot change the standby shortcuts and there aren’t too many data points in the contacts system - 4 phone numbers and 1 email only.
I keep referring to the Secret because the KC550 is basically a cheap version of the Secret - they’re very similar, but the KC550 is less fancy in terms of materials used and silly extras.
Other features of note on the LG KC550 include tri-band GSM (no 3G), Bluetooth stereo support, 25MB of memory, and a microSD expansion slot.
