New ultra slim soundmatters SLIMstage surround sound bar
For those perplexed on what to do for surround sound with that shiny new plasma or LCD TV you just bought, soundmatters has a new series of surround sound bars, the SLIMstage line, that slide nicely underneath the TV to conserve ever so precious space.
The SLIMstage40 sound bar measure just 3.5″ tall and 3.7″ in depth to fit perfectly under a 42″ or 51″ plasma television. Pushing out 170 watts of sound from eight internal amps, the single box SLIMstage units boast surround sound from both stereo and 5.1 signals, leaving need only for possibly a sub-woofer.
Marketing VP Lee Adams states, “Most single-cabinet surround systems typically require reflective walls to optimize a sonic image, but with SLIMstage, we’ve effectively removed this barrier by incorporating patented surround and speaker technologies that don’t rely on walls or subwoofers to produce a pinpoint surround-sound image. And our patented technologies have allowed us to develop a super-slim cabinet which unlike others has bass, and nearly disappears on furniture or under a flat-panel TV.”
The SLIMstage features three digital and three analog inputs, an LED backlit panel, an IR remote, a RS-232 port, a front control panel, a headphone jack, and a wall bracket and shelf feet for mounting.
The soundmatter’s SLIMstage series comes in 30, 40, and 50 models and all are encased in a piano black shell. The SLIMstage40 is available now for US$899 or US$1199 packaged with the SUBstage100 subwoofer.
