Lenovo launches 17-inch ThinkPad W700 notebook
Today Lenovo announced a new mobile workstation, the ThinkPad W700. The new 17-inch widescreen WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixel) resolution notebook is aimed at creative and graphic users and features what the company claims as the first built-in digitizer located next to the device’s touchpad. The digitizer lets creators easily edit image with the swipe of the provided pen.
The new Thinkpad W700 also boasts an X-rite Pantone screen calibration device so that the notebook’s large display screen automatically adjusts to provide true to life images - especially important for digital photographers. The W700 also includes Intel’s Core 2 Quad-Core Extreme processor and nVidia Quadro FX3700M graphics with up to 1GB of video memory.
Other features of this 8.3 pound beast include up to 8GB DDR3 memory, up to 3 hard drives, an optional Blu-ray DVD burner, Bluetooth, WiFi connectivity, and we are told that WiMAX should be available on the W700 later this year. Five USB ports and a 7-in-1 multicard reader are also included.
Lenovo’s ThinkPad W700 is set to be available starting in September for US$2,978.00.
