HP gearing up for TouchSmart laptop launch
Ever since the iPhone, the world appears to be mesmerized by touch technology of any kind: computers, phones, PDA’s, iPods - you get the picture. HP, proving that it hasn’t been hit and left behind by the touchscreen bus, announced that it is gearing up to launch “an array” of touchscreen products, including a TouchSmart desktop lineup, which we covered recently.
As reported by The Wall Street Journal, HP is so excited about the revolution that it is planning to launch “touch-enabled notebook computers” within 18 months. “We’re focused on recognizing the potential of touch now,” said Phil McKinney, the Chief Technology Officer for the company’s laptop division.
As exciting as the idea is, we still prefer the keyboard (as it would make our job just a bit harder).
