Following Intel’s announcement about its ‘Centrino 2’ platform, most notebook manufacturers went to town by announcing a slew of new devices to quell the bubbling urge of consumers. Everyone from Acer, Panasonic, Sony, Lenovo to Samsung said something to someone about their new line up of notebooks. However, it took MSI a little bit longer to catch on. MSI’s new GX720 and GX620 gaming notebooks might be worth the wait, although the systems are pretty similar. The only thing separating them is the screen size and speaker configuration. For an easy to digest specifications list, please read on.

  • 17in (GX720) or 15in (GX620) 1,920 x 1,200 screen
  • Intel Core 2 Duo processor
  • ‘Turbo’ overclocking button
  • up to 4GB DDR2 RAM (upgradeable)
  • nVidia GeForce 9600M GT 512MB graphics
  • 320Gb hard drive
  • Draft-N wireless
  • Blu-ray drive option

As usual with these types of announcements, pricing is not mentioned at this point. Similarly, there is no word on availability. With so many similar gaming notebooks to pick from these days, we will expect to see some competitive pricing, and will announce the details when we get them. Stay tuned.
