Sony to offer Apple-like one-on-one services with Backstage Pass

Apple logoFollowing in the path of Apple’s successful one-on-one expanded service options, Sony today announced their intent to add additional service options in their Sony Style locations through the Backstage program.  Sony hopes to attract students coming back to school by letting them book two free appointments with a retail staffer to train on using the company’s VAIO PCs.

An offering called Backstage Pass will also be available and bears resemblance to Apple’s ProCare service.  For a yearly fee of $130, customers receive fast-track access for repairs as well as maintenance and setup services for PCs.  Sony also mentions “premium repair support.”  At present, the program is in 20 stores but the program is expected to double to 42 locations by the end of the year.
