There once was a time when high-def camcorders were stuff of dreams, the stuff that filled your Amazon wish list and the stuff that never found its way under your Christmas tree. Well times-are-a-changin’ my friend, especially over in the UK.

The ‘Camileo H10′ is a 720p (1280px x 720px) portable video recording camera. It weighs just 340g and manages to offer a 5x optical zoom. With only 64MB of onboard memory, you will probably want to opt for the (maximum) 8GB of SDHC support which will take a decent amount of the H.264/Mpeg4 footage (4 hours to be exact). As far as the CCD sensor goes, it’s a sturdy 10-megapixel job coupled with a 2.7in LCD display to view your ‘artsmanship’. The HDMI output port allows you to watch your home videos directly on your HDTV in your living room. Offering a night mode to help take some nice stills, this will also help you with your low-light filming. The standard special effects are crammed into the device too, such as black & white or negative.

If you live in the UK, you should be able to get hold of one of these before the month is out. With all this for just £179.99 (~$360), everyone* can go to Hollywood with their latest version of ‘The Blair Witch Project’.

* Everyone is at least limited to Europe. There are no details for the American release, so for now, expect an influx of Brit film makers wondering Sunset Boulevard clutching something tightly under their rain coats.
