First glimpse and hands-on with Nokia’s E71 smartphone
We’ve been waiting for the Nokia E71 smartphone for quite some time, and have watched it as it has made its way (slowly) to the US. We were fortunate enough to get our hands on an E71 and snap a few pictures in the process.
The device looks fantastic, and anyone owning one is guaranteed to get a few extra looks. For a business-centric device, Nokia has done a fantastic job in the design department. The phone is heavy but quite solid in design. The keys, while tightly packed, are dome-shaped and while we like the keyboard design, the space bar and power button seem a bit flimsy for a high end business device. The E71’s d-Pad works well enough, and the middle button is easy to find and select. With a beautiful phone comes one of the usual frustrations, however: fingerprints. Detectives would love for phones like the E71 to be strewn around a crime scene, as they are perfect for collecting fingerprints.
