Apple sells out of iPhone in all but three locations in US
Those desiring to purchase an iPhone after the initial hype simmered will be disappointed, as the popular consumer device has sold out in all but three stores in the nation. New York, California, and New Hampshire are the only three states containing a store with active stock of the iPhones, however none of the locations have all models available. According to Apple, none of its locations have the 8GB black model in stock, and the only location to have the 16GB black model is the Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton, California. The other two locations in Salem, New Hampshire and New York City only have the 16GB white model in stock. Apple has 187 stores in 37 states.
AT&T has reported that most of its stores sold out of the iPhone on the first day and are waiting as long as three weeks to see any variations of the device return to stores. Any direct ship option that customers previously selected will now take several weeks instead of 3-5 days.
