New Samsung camera range

Samsung are going big in an attempt to secure 15% of the digital camera market share. With five new models, they are certainly giving it a good go with models such as the S1070, L201, and L310W.

The S1070 is a 10.2 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom. The LCD screen has an ambient sensor christened the ‘Intelligent LCD’, and measures 2.7in. Available in September in white, silver, pink and black, it should cost around £100 ($200). The L201, also a 10.2-megapixel camera, has similar specs to the S1070, but in a sleeker and smaller package boasting a brushed metal chassis. Offering Auto Contrast Balance for emphasising the details within shadows for scenes that are backlit, the L201 will be available after August in lime green, pink, black, turquoise and silver for £129 ($250-260). The L310W offers a 13.6-megapixel sensor and a wide-angle lens. For getting up close and personal, its 3.6x optical zoom should do the trick. In this more premium model, Samsung clearly do not want you to take bad photos, and as such, they are offering up the ‘Perfect Portrait System’ that can detect smiles and blinks. Furthermore, Samsung realise that not everyone wants to spend time on Photoshop clearing up imperfect skin and blemishes. Their answer is ‘Beauty Shot’, which automatically retouches and smoothes out inadequate skin. Available in September for £199 ($400), you can expect black, silver, brown and pink models offering digital and optical image stabilisation. Below are the important points for the L310W:
