Sony rolls out new VAIO laptop lineup w/Centrino 2 processors
This morning Sony unveiled its new VAIO laptop lineup, which now includes the BZ, FW, SR, and Z notebooks, all sporting Intel’s Centrino 2 processors.
The smallest of the lineup, the ultraportable VAIO Z series, weighs 3.4lbs and comes encased in carbon fiber. The 13.1-inch laptops feature a Blu-ray drive, NVIDIA 9300M graphics, an HDMI-out port, a fingerprint reader, a password protected hard drive, and have options for 128GB SSD and WWAN. Due out in August, the VAIO Z is expected to start around US$1800.
Next up in size is the 13.3-inch VAIO SR lineup, which weighs just over 4lbs and comes in an array of colors; five to be exact. These laptops include features such as hard drive shock protection, a built-in webcam, and microphone. Expected to roll out the end of this month, pricing should start at US$1400.
The 15.4-inch VAIO BZ series is designed for business users and include features such as magnesium alloy casing, a spill-resistant keyboard, and Intel’s vPro management software as well as Sony’s VAIO Care support package. The VAIO BZ will be available this month starting at US$1000.
Rounding out the bunch is Sony’s largest notebook lineup, the VAIO FW. Sporting a large 16.4-inch LCD display screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio and an on-board Blu-ray drive, these new laptops are perfect for multimedia users. Weighing just over 6lbs, the FW will be available later this month with pricing starting at US$1000.
