Acer launches Centrino 2 Aspire and TravelMate notebooks
Acer today offered information on nine new Aspire and TravelMate notebook models that offer the new Intel Centrino 2 processor, operating with a 1,066 MHz system bus. The four Aspire models will be geared toward consumers and will offer WiMAX capabilities and generous multimedia capabilities. The TravelMate notebooks will be marketed toward business users.
Though the released information today was sparse, below is what we know about the notebooks:
- The Aspire 2930 offers Acer’s gemstone design, and offers integrated graphics with a 12.1-inch LCD screen.
- The Aspire 4930 increases the screen real estate to 14.1-inch CrystalBrite display and improves the video card to an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card.
- The Aspire 5930 offers its users a 15.4-inch screen and an NVIDIA PureVideo HD for video acceleration.
- The Aspire 7730 offers a 17-inch display and the option of a Blu-ray drive. Along with the Centrino 2’s built-in Wi-Fi support, it also offers Intel’s Wireless WiFi Link 5100/5300.
The TravelMate series specifications are below:
- The TravelMate 6293 sports a 12.1-inch display and the Wi-Fi offered based on the Centrino 2 chipset. The laptop can be ordered with as much as 4GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive. There is built-in webcam option as well as the option of a VoIP Bluetooth phone.
- The TravelMate 6493 ups the ante to a 14.1-inch display and offers an Intel Core 2 Duo vPro processor set in Intel 64-bit architecture and with Intel Virtualization technology. Like the 6293, it can be had with 4GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive.
- The TravelMate 6593 offers a 15.4-inch screen and an Intel Centrino 2 vPro chip intended for business use, which allows features such as remote management and added security. It will have the option for two hard drives.
- The TravelMate 5730 offers similar features as the 6593, but users will be offered the choice of ATI’s Mobility Radeon or NVIDA GeForce graphics cards. A Blu-ray drive will also be an option.
- The TravelMate 7730 offers a 17-inch screen, 4GB of RAM, and will offer a choice of NVIDIA or ATI graphics. A Blu-ray drive is optional.
