Hasselblad’s 50-megapixel H3DII-50 digital SLR camera
Yesterday I reported on a a 50-megapixel CCD sensor from Eastman Kodak, and today I follow up with Hasselblad’s 50-megapixel (6132 x 8176) shooter, the H3DII-50. Using Kodak’s 50mp 36 x 48mm sensor, this DSLR is designed for high end photographers looking for high quality photographs.
The H3DII-50 is the fourth generation model in Hasselblad’s H-system lineup and provides improved controls and functionality that include a new user interface, improved sensor cooling, and a large 3-inch TFT (230 x 400 pixel) display.
Other features of note include:
- ISO range of 50-400
- .9 frames per second
- FireWire 800 connectivity
- 300MB image files
- compact flash cards for storage
- can be tethered to a computer
- 2290g (5lbs)
The new H3DII-50 from Hasselblad is expected to be available in October of this year. Pricing has not been announced formally but we can tell you Hasselblad’s current 39-megapixel model sells for about US$45,000.
