Epson’s PowerLite Home Cinema 720

Epson today announced the launch of two new home cinema systems - the Ensemble 720 and Ensemble 1080.  Both systems are capable of high definition images on an included 100-inch motorized screen, thanks to Epson’s PowerLite 3LCD three-chip HD projector.  As the product numbers suggest, the primary difference between the two projectors is the technology: 720p (1280×720) and 1080p (1920×1080), respectively.

The system offers two HDMI inputs, with the surround speakers bundled into a custom cradle that holds the projector.  The front speakers are integrated into the device’s housing, and the system comes bundled with an LCD-based remote.  The Ensemble HD 720 system offers a 16:9 aspect ratio, along with a 1600 lumens brightness and 10,000:1 contrast ratio when set to Dynamic Mode. The Ensemble HD 1080 option offers a maximum of 1200 lumens and a 12,000:1 contrast ratio. Both devices sport one HDMI connection, three component, one composite, one S-Video, one RS-232c and one VGA port.

The 720 can be had for $4,999, while the 1080 will set you back $6,999.
