Sharp shows 26-inch solar powered TV
At the G8 summit in Japan, Sharp has unveiled a new prototype 26-inch television that is powered completely by solar energy. The company developed the product for the many parts of the world where TV signals are available, yet reliable power is not.
The new prototype TV uses 25% of the power required by a regular 28-inch tube type television set, yet offers almost the same amount of usable screen space. The solar panel that powers the television is of roughly the same size as the TV itself.
Sharp has not said when it would expect to bring such a product to market.
