Warning letters go to 800 Virgin Broadband subscribers in UK

Virgin MediaAfter saying that it would cut down on illegal downloads, the company is keeping to its word in sending warning letters to 800 broadband subscribers.  The letters are part of a 10 week program in conjunction with the British Phonographic Industry - the body that represents record companies in the UK.  The organization has placed pressure on the ISP’s to crack down on those who download copyrighted material; Virgin is the first ISP to work with the BPI to help in the crackdown.

According to the organization, ”thousands more letters” will be sent, followed by a trial in mid-August.
