Grocery store of the future offers checkout via barcodes
If you’re not a fan of grocery shopping, recent technology may make it a bit easier when you have to go out and get the cupcake mix. A chain of German supermarkets are utilizing new technology that, when fully implemented, will allow shoppers to purchase their items via cell phone. Essentially, you pick your items, which all correspond to a bar code above the shelf. You take a picture of the barcode, and when you’re finished, you click a button on the phone and it generates a final barcode. You then take the code to the door, scan it, and check out.
