Leave your mobile phone at home says Cyprus education ministry or be punished
Schools in Cyprus are prepared to put some new legislation into motion and punish anyone that does not adhere. The new proposed rules from the island’s education ministry is hoping that any student found carrying a mobile phone will be reprimanded and those found with a phone turned on could be suspended. Taking it one step further, any student found using the handset for photos or video recording could face expulsion.
“Pupils were sending text messages to each other during exams, during lessons, video footage and photographs were being taken and posted on the Internet,” said Dr Zena Poulli, director of secondary education at the Cypriot education and culture ministry.
