Nikon officially launches 12.1 megapixel D700 DSLR
We have been hearing rumors of it for weeks now and finally Nikon has seemingly crumbled under the pressure to release its latest DLSR, the D700.
The new 12.1-megapixel monster has been made official and as we reported, it packs quite a punch. It includes a 51-point autofocus sensor with 3D tracking, a 3-inch display with 922k pixels, Live View shooting modes, an EXPEED image processor, ISO sensitivity of 6400 (up to 25,600), 5-8fps full resolution shooting, GPS support, compact flash card support, and HDMI output.
Nikon is calling the new D700 its first “compact” professional SLR camera and its clearly meant to take on Canon’s EOS 5D series.
The Nikon D700 DSLR will be available in late July for around US$2999.95 for the body only.
