Hands-on with the KT610 - LG’s S60 smartphone
Announced earlier this year at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the LG KT610, is a S60 smartphone that has been lying low for sometime, but the boys over at our parent site, MobileBurn, are ready to unwrap the new device for a full in-depth review.
In the mean time, we wanted to provide a preview of what’s to come with this S60 based communicator smartphone. The full QWERTY keyboard KT610 is actually much smaller than one would expect and nestles nicely in the palm of a hand. The external display is colorful but a bit small to make way for some very large number keys when the device is closed. LG has added a grippy rubber coating to the unit’s back and battery cover that looks a bit faux leather-like to help provide extra stability while holding the KT610.
Upon opening up the device, you will notice a large QWERTY keyboard that is spaced nicely, but has a few niggles: the space bar is off-centered to the right, and all the keys look too much alike. Also, off to the right is where you will find the navigational d-pad and send/end keys. A large 2.4″ QVGA display sits atop the phone’s upper half and is surrounded by speakers on both sides.
Other features of note on the KT610 smartphone include S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 support, built-in GPS, a 2-megapixel camera, a microSD expansion slot, Bluetooth, and Google’s suite of applications including Google Search, Gmail, and Google Maps Mobile.
Stay tuned for a full review over at MobileBurn but in the meantime enjoy the LG KT610 gallery below.
