Purple Labs acquires Openwave mobile phone software business
Purple Labs today announced its purchase of Openwave, a mobile phone software company. The Openwave browser and its logo can be seen on many phones in the United States, including Verizon Wireless. France-based Purple Labs paid $30 million in cash for Openwave’s software and client assets, and plans to pay an additional $2 million if certain conditions are met during the transition. Openwave plans to provide support for six months.
