New Dell Studio Laptops announced
The new Studio line of laptops from Dell has just been officially announced at Dell.com and things are much simpler than we’re used to. Aptly named the ‘Studio 15’ and ‘Studio 17’, the two new machines come in just two sizes, the 15.4in or 17in models, respectively.
However, Dell clearly doesn’t know which colour is in this season, with a somewhat overwhelming choice of 6 to pick between: ‘graphite’ grey; ‘tangerine’ orange; ‘plum’ purple; ‘midnight’ blue; ‘flamingo’ pink; ’spring’ green; ‘ruby’ red, and ‘jet’ black. If that’s not enough, when opting for ‘graphite’ grey, you can actually change the colour of the trim to spice things up a little.
Using the familiar customization facilities on the Dell website that we all know and love, the laptops can be tricked out pretty well. Both will offer a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200, which is pretty sweet, but you also get your choice of Intel Core 2 Duo processors (T5850, TS100, T9300) and an option to cram in 4GB RAM should you require it. With ATI Mobility Radeon 3000 series graphics card options we were further impressed, not to mention the 2-megapixel camera and backlit keyboard.
But things don’t stop there. Storage is something Dell has clearly prioritized with both of these machines, and buyers will have the difficult choice of deciding whether to upgrade to a 320GB HDD on the ‘Studio 15’, and even a dual option of up to 640GB on the ‘Studio 17’. To round things off, you can also squeeze in Wireless n WiFi, mobile broadband, and Bluetooth. Not too shabby. Now if you’ve tricked-out as much as possible by now your wallet probably won’t want more of a beating, but you can kit up with a wide range of peripherals to match the colour scheme of your casing!
The Studio 15 can be yours for just $799 while the Studio 17 will come home for $999. However, if you’re a trickster like us, then you’ll find the price jacks up pretty quickly.
