Apple begins to penetrate business market, according to research
It was often assumed that businesses (besides graphic design firms) stayed away from Apple products and shifted toward PC’s for day to day work. Heck, even Apple’s store scanners are PC based! However, recent research shows that their exposure in the business market has increased significantly.
According to a recent survey by Yankee Group Research, Macs reside in one form or another in almost 80 percent of US companies. The approximate percentage was 47 percent in 2006, showing that Apple corporate segment has exploded in the past two years. The increase comes from the documented reliability as well as the switch to Intel processors.
Yankee Group researcher Laura DiDio noted that “Apple has a beachhead in business. Where it once had just 1-to-2% market share in corporate, now they’re up to 8-to-10%.” The research concludes with the finding that Apple computers are being accepted into the company, rather than “let in” or “worked around,” as they have been in past years.
