Amazon in talks to bring its MP3 store global
As early as this summer, Amazon could launch their MP3 store in various other countries, according to the UK’s Telegraph newspaper. It is believed that senior management at Amazon have engaged in talks with British music labels to negotiate the launch. According to those familiar with the deal, Amazon hopes to have a UK music store online by the end of the year.
Earlier this year, the company promised a 2008 international launch and will most likely offer its music store in places where Amazon already has a presence, such as Canada and Japan. A launch in the UK may bode well for Amazon, due to the smaller presence of iTunes in the country, and for the ability to download DRM-free music tracks.
