Apple’s online store threatened with lawsuit

AppleApple, along with HP, are being sued on their custom computer ordering systems on their online stores. According to a lawsuit filed this week by Clear With Computers, Apple’s online store, its main website, along with the sales and supply systems of both infringe on pieces of patents granted to them in March 1997 and November 1994.

CWC is asking for a permanent injunction on their services and is requesting that Apple and HP pay “enhanced” damages for what’s claimed as “deliberate infringement.”  CWC has already won a similar lawsuit with Staples.  Not good news with the upcoming launch of the iPhone; hopefully, it won’t affect either of the online stores.
