Yahoo opens up ‘Ymail’ and ‘Rocketmail’ domains for e-mail

YahooI’m sure this has happened once, and personally, it has driven me crazy several times.  You go to sign up for e-mail service with a certain provider.  You decide you want your name, in some way, shape, or form (first initial, last name; first name.last name, etc.). However, when you get to the signup page, it is already taken. Saddened, you resort to another e-mail address.  So, you wait for the day when a spinoff comes (much like live.com with hotmail.com was) and hope that you can jump on quickly enough to get the address you want.

In response to the popularity of Yahoo and its corresponding e-mail addresses, and in an attempt to compete with Gmail, Yahoo has launched new e-mail domains: Ymail and Rocketmail.  George Hadjigeorgiou, general manager of email stuff at Yahoo Europe, said: “Yahoo! users told us that, as a result of Yahoo! Mail’s global popularity, getting the email address they always wanted was becoming a challenge.”  With 250 million global users, we can certainly imagine that it was.

Head over to Yahoo to create the e-mail account; hopefully, you’ll get your desired address on the first try.
