Verizon FiOS Internet service goes 50Mbps all over

Earlier this week Verizon announced that it will begin offering its 50 and 20Mbps FiOS internet services across its entire 16 state footprint, and that other tiers of its FiOS internet service would be receiving a speed boost as well.  This is seemingly in response to an announcement from Comcast earlier that said that it would be offering its customers faster connections.

Verizon’s existing top FiOS plans, the 50/20 and 20/20 (download/upload Mbps), will now be available to all of its customers, replacing the top end 30/15 and 15/15 plans that some markets were limited to.  Verizon has also said that the entry level 5/2 plan and the mid-tier 15/2 plan have been replaced by 10/2 and 20/5, respectively.

The new plans are for new customers only, though existing customers can call Verizon to ask about upgrading.
