JVC’s new MPEG-2/AVCHD dual-format, HD camcorders

JVC introduced three new HD Everio camcorders to its stable, including two dual format camcorders.

The new GZ-HD40 and GZ-HD30 camcorders from JVC are, according to teh company, “the world’s first AVCHD/MPEG-2 dual-format camcorders.” The GZ-HD40 features 1920×1080 HD recording, a 120GB hard drive, up to 50 hours of AVCHD Full HD video recording, and a docking station. The GZ-HD40 is expected to retail for US$1299. The mid-level recorder, the GZHD30, offers up to the same 1920×1080 HD recording but with a smaller 80GB storage space and is expected to retail for US$999. The lower end model, the GZ-HD10, records in 1440×1080 HD, has a 40GB hard drive, and will cost $799.

The new camcorders will be available in August.
