Dell’s upcoming subnotebook, the Dell E

In today’s subnotebook hype, Dell realized that it was falling behind, and quickly compensated by leaking details about an upcoming notebook.  More details have been released today; Engadget is reporting that the Dell E will have an 8.9-inch screen, and will compete with the Eee PC and HP subnotebooks, both in specifications and price.

The computer will be available in either Linux or Windows XP variations, and will be powered by an Intel Diamondville processor running at a 1.6 GHz clock speed.  Configurations will vary, and can include a webcam, Bluetooth, or more RAM.  All models will ship with Wi-Fi capability, USB ports, and a VGA port.

According to the report, the system will debut in August for a starting price of approximately $400.
