Canon EOS 1000D, Rebel XS 10-megapixel DLSR camera launched
Last month we reported on the rumored entry level digital SLR from Canon, the EOS 1000D. The company has just announced the release of the 1000D to the mainstream for July in Europe. In the States, the camera will be known as the Rebel XS and has not been given an official release date yet.
The new model offers a 10-megapixel CMOS sensor, shoots up to 3 fps, offers a wide area 7 point autofocus system, and has a large 2.5″ LCD screen around back. The lightweight and compact 1000D is perfect for the budget minded photographer and is expected to retail for EUR549. Pricing for the Rebel XS in the U.S. has not been confirmed but is rumored fall between US$630-$740 per PCMag.
