AT&T nears completion of HSUPA 3G upgrades, users see faster speeds
Today AT&T said that it will have completed its HSUPA 3G network upgrade by the end of the month. What does that mean for the end user? AT&T’s LaptopConnect mobile broadband users will see an improvement in both uplink and downlink speeds.
Currently, HSDPA downlink speeds range from 600kbps to 1.4Mbps. HSUPA increases this to 700kbps to 1.7Mbps, while boosting upload speeds to as much as 1.2Mbps.
AT&T’s 3G mobile broadband network is available now in more than 275 major U.S. cities and, before the year is up, the company plans to offer 3G service in 350 cities in total.
