NVIDIA Corp rolled out a new line-up of processor chips that they believe to be the world’s first single-chip capable of displaying high def multimedia and Internet experience as though you were on a full powered PC. The new chips, the Tegra 600 and 650, are what the company is calling “computers on a chip” designed for small and portable devices and are about the size of a dime.

“Creating Tegra was a massive challenge. Our vision was to create a platform that will enable the 2nd personal computer revolution - which will be mobile centric, with devices that last days on a single charge, and yet has the web, high definition media, and computing experiences we’ve come to expect from our PC,” said Jen-Hsun Huang, president and CEO at NVIDIA.

The new NVIDIA Tegra processors are targeted at MIDs (mobile internet devices), such as super portable devices like the Asus Eee PC and includes display screens of 4-12″.
