Laptop manufacturer Acer presented its newest compact and low cost mobile laptop, the Aspire one. Powered by Intel’s power-thrifty Atom 1.6GHz processor, the new notebook offers a full mobile experience with built-in 802.11b/g WiFi connectivity, and comes in a lightweight package of 0.9kg (2lbs). Measuring 248mm x 170mm x 29mm (9.8″ x 6.7″ x 1.1″), the one is a great option for checking email and doing light computing tasks while on the road.

The Aspire one features include a 8.9″ CrystalBrite LED 1024×600 resolution display, a webcam, a memory card slot, and comes loaded with Linpus Linux Lite or Windows XP Home edition, depending upon your preference. The one comes equipped with either 512MB or 1GB of RAM, and ships with either an 8GB SSD (solid state drive) or a traditional 80GB hard disk . The one’s battery offers up to six hours of run time.

The Acer Aspire one will be available starting in Q3 in the U.S. with pricing beginning at US$379. The company claims that built-in 3G connectivity may be added in the future.
