Hard Rock Cafe getting serious about mobile advertising

Hard Rock CafeThe Hard Rock Cafe in San Francisco is getting serious about mobile advertising, and they’re doing it through Bluetooth technology provided by Intera Group. The system uses Bluetooth technology to send coupons to capable devices within the 100′ range. The mobile phones must be in ‘discoverable’ mode, and the user will have to accept the coupon. A primary disadvantage is that many may identify the advertisement as spam, and reject it.

Hard Rock Cafe’s approach underscores the advance of mobile advertising and the industry’s approach to targeting users.  Those who wish to use their headsets without worrying about mobile advertisements can set their devices to ‘hidden’ or ‘undiscoverable’ mode.
