Samsung Instinct will require a data plan of at least $70
For those interested in purchasing the Samsung Instinct when it launches on June 20th, be prepared to spend at least $70/month to keep the phone active. Sprint is requiring one of the “Everything” plans to activate the Instinct, and according to Sprint’s David Owens. Owens, the director of product commercialization, said that the change was in order to allow all products and services to be available to the consumer without worry of additional charges.
According to Owens, the phone will also utilize Sprint’s EVDO Rev A network and support personal and business e-mail. The device will launch with a 2 GB memory card and carrying case. While pricing has not been released as of yet, the rumored price point is $299.
The available plans for the Instinct are $69.99, $89.99, and $99.99; and offer 450, 900, and unlimited minutes, respectively. All plans offer unlimited messaging and data (including Sprint TV and Sprint Navigation).
