Intel delays Centrino 2 processor until July
Yesterday’s suspicion that Intel was delaying its Centrino 2 processor lineup proved to be true today, with an Intel spokesperson confirming the change. According to latest Intel information, the processor will have a soft launch on July 14, followed by a full rollout in August. According to a Wall Street analyst, the chipmaker has had trouble with obtaining FCC approval for the processor.
The delay of the processor doesn’t appear to have hurt the company, as the two technologies built into the chipset - 802.11n and WiMAX - have not been fully standardized yet.
