European Union regulators fined the gaming giant 149.1 million in 2002, claiming that Nintendo and seven distributors colluded to fix hardware and software prices between 1991 and 1998.  The company was found guilty as charged and was slapped with one of the highest fines in EU history.

Fast forward to the present, where Nintendo is refusing to pay the fine.  ”The penalty was unfair, illegal, even shocking”, Ian Forrester, representing Nintendo, told the European Court of First Instance in Luxembourg.  The EU’s response?  ”This fine was for an infringement that was considered very serious.”
