Robot released that climbs walls like Spiderman

SRI International’s wall-climbing robot

We’ve seen robots of all shapes and sizes launch in the past few years, however this one is certainly one to note. Non-profit institute SRI International has created a robot that, among other things, can defy gravity as it scales vertically up a wall.

Electro-adhesion is the science behind the robot’s ability to climb; much like rubbing a balloon against your head for static electricity. The device can adhere to concrete, wood, steel, glass, drywall, and brick, while consuming relatively low power.

The good news? These can be used for search and rescue missions, or in places where humans can’t go. The bad news? Let’s hope that when wall walking robots start roaming the earth with us humans that they are ‘three laws strong.’
