Dutch robot walks like a human, looks like a Sci-Fi villan
Flame, a walking robot
Researcher Daan Hobbelen of the Delft Univsity of Technology (TU Delft) has developed a robot, named Flame, that walks in the same “falling forward” way that we humans do. Hobbelen claims that his robot is the most advanced human style walking robot in the world.
Researchers at TU Delft also plan on competing at the 2008 RoboCup Soccer tournament in China.
Flame stands a bit over 4′ tall and weighs about 33 pounds. It currently is capable of walking at a speed of roughly 1.4 feet per second. A gallery and video of the Flame robot in action can be found below.
