SlingModem revealed - cable modem and SlingBox in one
Although we were a bit disappointed to hear that the device wouldn’t be sold on the retail floor, we’re excited nonetheless. EchoStar, owners of the SlingBox, will announce the SlingModem next week. The device, expected to launch with great fanfare, will be a cable modem with SlingBox features. The device was soft-launched at CES 2008 back in January, however the device will not be available to users directly - it is being sold to cable providers. End users will have to buy or lease the device from their respective cable providers.
Pricing and availability was unknown at press time.
