Motorola removes iDEN firmware update utility from website

While we wouldn’t chalk this up to be relating to the circulating Nextel buyout rumors, it is certainly worth a look. A visit to the Motorola iDEN firmware update website gives users an error message. To the shock of iDEN users across the world, no reason was given as to why the website was temporarily shut down, and no ETA is available at this time.

The iDEN update website was revolutionary, as it allowed users to download major firmware updates from home, saving the time and trouble of visiting a retail store. It is possible that Motorola is integrating the updates into their Motorola Software Update application, which is used for GSM phones, or the website could be experiencing difficulties.
